MSI’s MEG CORELIQUID S360 AIO Cooler is a high-performance liquid CPU cooler that brings maximum cooling performance and stable overclocking to the Intel Core i7 8700K, AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and more.
The “best aio cooler 2020” is a new product from MSI. It is a highly efficient and powerful cooler that will meet the needs of any gamer or PC enthusiast.
MSI has been a mainstay in the PC component market for as long as we can remember, and throughout the years, it has expanded beyond its motherboard beginnings to include a comprehensive suite of products. We’ve looked at a number of their video cards, motherboards, SSDs, and power supplies, but now we’ll put their new AIO cooler (liquid cooler) to the test to see whether it lives up to their reputation for producing high-quality gaming and creative items.
MSI handed us the MEG CORELIQUID S360, which is part of the new “CORELIQUID S” line and has a 2.4-inch IPS display. The S360, a 360mm AIO with three fans, and the S280, a 280mm AIO with two fans, will be available under the CORELIQUID S series. The CORELIQUID S series is designed for gamers and content makers, with an emphasis on great performance and minimal noise. It competes with the ASUS ROG RYUJIN II 360, NZXT KRAKEN Z73, and GIGABYTE AORUS WATERFORCE X360, and is built on the Asetek 7th generation pump platform.
Under the MEG, MAG, and MPG naming conventions, MSI offers three separate cooler classifications. This is part of MSI’s MEG series, which stands for MSI Enthusiast Gaming (MSI innovative MEG silent) and is the company’s top-of-the-line hardware series. The MEG series is at the top, followed by the MPG series, and finally the MAG series. We predict the MEG CORELIQUID S360 to cost about $280 once it reaches the market and is ready to purchase; we’re waiting for an official MSRP.
We’ll be employing our AIO test platform once again, which can generate enough heat to make even the devil sweat. This allows us to put AIO liquid cooling systems to the test with some of today’s most demanding CPUs. This is a fresh new MSI product that we are really eager to try out.
Overview of the MSI MEG CORELIQUID S360
The MSI MEG CORELIQUID S360 is an all-in-one (AIO) CPU cooler that supports a broad range of CPU sockets. These include Intel’s LGA 115x/1200/1366/1700/2011/2066 and AMD’s AM2/AM3/AM4/FM1/FM2/strR/sTRX4/TR4/SP3 and Intel’s LGA 115x/1200/1366/1700/2011/2066. This range includes most high-end desktop CPUs on the market now, as well as Intel’s LGA 1700 socket, which will be available when Alder Lake is released. That’s true, it comes pre-installed with LGA 1700 compatibility.
While we’re looking at the 360mm radiator version right now, this AIO is also available with a 280mm radiator and two 140mm fans. Expect it to perform somewhat worse than the 360mm version we’re looking at today due to thermodynamic laws, but it should still put up similar numbers.
Pump & Water Block
The MSI MEG CORELIQUID S360’s water block is 95x95x54mm, making it one of the biggest water blocks we’ve seen. The 7th Generation Asetek water pump is housed in that large footprint, together with a 2.4″ LCD screen and a 60mm fan.
Depending on the motherboard you’re using, the 60mm TORX FAN 3.0 embedded into the water block is designed to assist dissipate heat from surrounding the CPU socket, including VRMs, M.2 SSD slots, and/or RAM. The machine has a 0 RPM fan mode with FAN 0 RPM Mode to decrease noise by suspending the radiator fans and water block fan at low temperatures.
The 2.4-inch adjustable IPS display screen has a 320240 resolution and may be customized with the MSI Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to program. The screen on the MSI Center may be tilted to meet the water block’s installation angle and can show current system information, a photo, a video, the current time, or the current weather. The display has a brightness rating of 500 nits and can display 16 bits of color.
At a 100% duty cycle, the pump is PWM regulated at a speed of around 2800 RPM (+/- 300 RPM). It transports water to and from the radiator through a 400mm cooling pipe.
The liquid CPU cooler radiator is 394x120x27mm and can accommodate three 120mm fans. The aluminum radiator has 221 fins per inch and is linked to 400mm of evaporation-proof tubing, according to our calculations.
The fans included are MSI’s MEG SILENT GALE P12 fans, which include hydro-dynamic bearings. These fans have a specified fan speed of 0 to 2000 RPM and a recorded noise level of 22.7 dB. (A). With a static pressure of 2.21 mm/H20, the maximum airflow is reported to be 56.2 CFM.
You’ll need to download MSI Center software from the Windows App Store to get the most out of the MSI MEG CORELIQUID S360. This application is where you may configure fan curves for the radiator fans (if they’re connected to the wire harness on the water block), the water block fan, the pump speed, and the screen. There seems to be no alternative method to regulate these factors.
The general user interface is quite simple, and we were up and running in no time. Configuring the fan curves to our taste and selecting the bling we wanted to see on the 2.4′′ LCD display was a reasonably simple process. It may show data or visuals that can be customized.
