The Xbox team has clarified that the upcoming sci-fi game, Starfield, is not a timed exclusive. It will also be available on PlayStation consoles.
The PlayStation 6 release date is the official name of Sony’s next console. The company has not yet announced the release date, but it will be released after Microsoft’s Xbox One X releases in November.

Bethesda’s next RPG, Starfield, will be released solely on Xbox platforms and Windows PCs, according to Microsoft. That hasn’t prevented PlayStation fans from expecting that the game would just be a limited-time exclusive, with a future release on Sony’s system and perhaps other platforms.
The optimism was dashed today when Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s General Manager of Xbox Games Marketing, clarified on Twitter that Starfield isn’t a timed exclusive in any way.
“We have tried to be as explicit as possible, this is not a timed exclusive, this is just where the game is being made,” Greenberg tweeted in response to a fan who was holding out hope that Starfield will eventually be released on other platforms.
Even years after its release, Starfield will only be playable on Xbox Series X|S consoles, Windows PCs, and devices that support Xbox Cloud Gaming, according to the implication.
Greenberg’s remarks have been backed up by Bethesda’s public relations man Pete Hines, who told PlayStation Starfield hopefuls that they’re clutching at straws. When Starfield was revealed as an Xbox exclusive, Hines remained tight-lipped. Hines remarked at the time, “I’m not sure whether I’d go so far as to say you’re done ever playing anything on PlayStation.”
As Greenberg points out, PlayStation players who are enraged by Xbox can still play Starfield on their computers. Greenberg clarified, “We’re not saying you have to purchase an Xbox to play those games.”
The debate about Starfield being limited to Xbox platforms and Windows PCs is fascinating to Xbox enthusiasts since no one appears to mind when Sony does it. It’s been claimed that the debate is similar to Xbox users whining about how God of War or Uncharted 4 aren’t available on Xbox. Simply said, Bethesda is officially a first-party Xbox developer.
We’ve tried to be as explicit as possible; this isn’t a limited-time offer; it’s just where the game is being developed.
